A permaculture based gardening program for home-schooling kids ages 5-15 years.
Homeschooling Permaculture Kids Gardening School (9 week term)
$180 per term first child, $130 per term each subsequent child from same family.
Age range- 5 years to 15 years
Two separate program days available, Monday or Friday. Choose to attend the Monday program or the Friday Program.
Monday class dates- 22nd July 29th July 12th Aug , 19th Aug 26th Aug, 2nd Sep, 9 Sep, 16th Sep, 23rd Sep (1pm-3pm)
Friday class dates- 19th July, 26th July, 9th Aug, 16th Aug, 23rd Aug, 30th Aug, 6th Sep, 20th Sep, 27th Sep (10am-12pm)
Week 1
• Food forest. We will learn all about growing a food forest. We will map out a plan for a food forest in our garden and plant some bare rooted fruit trees to get it started.
• Feed and water chickens, ducks & goats, collect eggs
• Carry out weekly garden chores to maintain the garden
• Free play
Week 2
• Perennial plants. We will learn about perennial vegetable and herb varieties and how they provide us with food for multiple years. We will plant an asparagus patch that can keep producing for around 20 years!

• Carry out weekly garden chores to maintain the garden.
• Free play
Week 3
• Spring crops. We will learn what grows best in spring and what spring plants are good companions for each other. We will map out our spring garden.

Week 4
• Spring seedlings and microclimates. Today we will learn how we can create microclimates to get a headstart on our spring crops. We will sew our spring seedlings to start them off in our greenhouse ahead of spring planting time.

Week 5
Preserving the harvest. As our winter garden starts coming to an end we will learn how to preserve our winter crops to last throughout the year. We will pick some veggies from the garden and pickle a jar each to take home.

Week 6
• Baby goats. We will learn about the life cycle of goats and the needs and care of baby goats. We will spend time with our pregnant goats and HOPEFULLY some baby goats if our goat Honey has successfully given birth by the time of this class.

Week 7
• Secret garden. When designing a permaculture garden it’s important to include, fun hang out spaces for your enjoyment. We will design and plant out out a secret garden that will make a great hang out space in our garden.

• Free play
Week 8
• Sheet mulching. We will learn about the method of sheet mulching. We will sheet mulch a section of the garden and plant a pollinator garden.

Week 9
• Spring Planting. For our last lesson of the term we will plant out our spring seedlings that we have lovingly grown and cared for and and see our spring garden design come to life. Weather permitting we may even celebrate our efforts with a campfire!

What to bring each lesson-
- Enclosed shoes (Gumboots are best)
- Water Bottle
- Morning or afternoon tea
- Hat
- Gardening Gloves
In case of wet weather-
We will have under cover wet weather activities organised
In case of severe weather-
Such as- extreme heat, dangerous storms etc.. Classes may get canceled in the best interest of the health and safety of the children. If available, at the discretion of the organiser, a makeup class may be offered in this instance.

The facilitator of this program holds an Advanced Diploma in Management, Diploma in Disability and Certicficate 4 in Permaculture. Our programs are designed to be full of activites to suit all abilities.
